Yes, we are going to watch a movie in a swimming pool. Saturday February 04 Sun Run - Because it's Good for your Bun(s)
Runners, joggers, walkers, amblers and rollers (we have an enthusiastic team of wheelchair pushers fired up and ready to go!) are all welcome to get into the fun of this local community fun run/walk. This promises to be a super friendly event over a relatively short distance (approx 6.5km) that all of us could do with enough time and encouragement. The spectacular course from Dee Why to Manly showcases the best of the Northern Beaches. Starting at The Strand in Dee Why and finishing on the Steyne in Manly, with all finishers receiving a commemorative medal. If you aren't sure if this for you then pick it anyway and we can tell you more about it next week.

Saturday February 25 DSA Surfing Day!
It is that time of year again when we get together with our friends from the Disabled Surfers Association for a day of surfing fun in the sun. Our day will start with a warm up paddling race in the Collaroy Beach pool before hitting the waves on the beach. A large number of volunteers and staff make this day accessible to everyone - especially for people who think that surfing might be out of their league. So be brave and come along for some surfing fun!

Saturday March 03 Wildlife Walkabout Camp
We are heading off on a wildlife camp to celebrate all things outdoors. We will be spending our weekend 'glamping'. This new phenomenon takes all the hassle out of camping, to leave the ease and simplicity of sleeping outdoors and having home cooked meals (prepared by someone else). We will be staying in a wildlife park with rangers who will be able to guide us around and show us the sights. This will be a fantastic time away and we look forward to seeing you then.

The legend of awesome Peer camps continues ...One lucky group of Peer people are heading up to Anna Bay Saturday morning and we're not coming home till Sunday night! This area has some beautiful beaches for us to enjoy but the big attraction for us on this weekend will be the 4WD trip we'll do among the sand dunes, where we get to do some sand boarding! Feel the breeze in your hair and warm sun on your back. Spring has arrived - and gee didn't it take it's time gettting here! Today we are going to journey to Bondi beach for the Festival of the Winds! The BIGGEST annual kite flying festival in Austalia!! We can check out the amazing kite displays from around the globe and it’s not just the experts who can fly their kites, why not bring your own! If you don’t have a kite you can buy one from one of the stalls in the park, or better still, we can make our own at one of the kite making workshops. We will enjoy a leisurely picnic on the sand and soak up the warm sunshine. So bring a kite and prepare to meet new friends.

Row Row Row your boat, Wildly round in circles. That's right guys that is what the Peer crew will be up to today. We are heading out to the Boatshed in the picturesque Lane Cove national Park to hire some large old style wooden row boats. We will be joy riding up and down the river in these lovely vessels until we spot a good place for a picnic. We will then head ashore for a leisurely lunch before jumping back in the boats and heading home. All aboard!

Racers... start your engines! Peer Supporters get ready to watch the rubber fly as we prepare for another Go Kart Challenge. Friday June 17 Winter Magic Camp
For all you new peer supporters who haven't been on a camp before, this is a great camp to start off on! We will be leaving Friday evening and heading out to enjoy the beautiful Blue Mountains from the warmth of our luxury accomodation (warm fire and cosy bed included!) . This camp does not require much mobility as the entertainment comes to us! Over the weekend jugglers, gymnasts, musicians, dancers, choirs, troubadours, buskers, storytellers and poets will litter the fun-filled streets of Katoomba. It's a vibrant celebration of life and the Winter Solstice with parades, stalls and art culture. This peer camp is always a big hit with those who have come along before so get in quick!

Sunday June 26 Cycling @ Centennial Park
Come join us as we head into the city to partake in some leisurely cycling. We'll be riding around on two seater tandem bikes and four seater pedal cars doing laps of the beautiful Centennial park. During our non cycling moments, or for those who don't want to cycle, we can have a picnic lunch in the park and just chill out on the grass. And of course there's always the chance for a game of cricket, frisbee or soccer!

All aboard HMAS Peer (actually the bus but we'll all have to use our imaginations!). Today Peer are going on a scavenger hunt with a difference. Wheelchairs welcome! Today we are going to celebrate the fun things you can do when it is cold as we head out west to the spectacular Sydney Ice Arena. We are able to cater to every ability level so don't be put off if you think you can't stay upright on the ice. Wheelchairs are more than welcome on the rink and we have other ways of getting people out on the ice and giving them a fantastic experience - After the skating we will head out to a nearby park and thaw out in the warm sunshine. Today Peer will be heading on a voyage of epic proportions! Thursday March 31 Night Walk Across the Harbour Bridge
Tonight we are going to go for a walk along one of Sydney's most iconic structures ever built, the Harbour Bridge! We will get to watch the sun set over Sydney and see the city as it transforms from day to night. It is such a breathtaking sight to look out over the city and harbour with all its twinkling lights. Here are some bridge facts for you to chew over in the meantime: at its highest point the arch is 134 metres above sea level; 'the bridge' is 1150 metres or about a mile long; Andrew was member of the original bridge building team; there are 58,000 tonnes of steel in the bridge but the bridge still weighs less than the Sydney Opera House.

That's right Peer Supporters, we are going a little bit wild again with a whole new camping camp for 2011. Camping in comfort right by the beach - this is the outdoors weekend with something for everyone. For the more laid back there is the option of lying under a tree and chatting with the resident wiildlife, or if you like a wander you can go beachcombing and fishing. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous you can go swimming or softie-surfing. We will be based at Putty Beach in Bouddi National Park but traveling there in style: we will be taking the ferry from Palm Beach to Flagstaff on the central coast and- after a 30 min ferry ride- we wil be picked up for the short shuttle across to our beachside campsite.

Sunday January 16 Barefoot Bowls and BBQ
Barefoot bowling and BBQ, what a perfect combination! Today's activity takes us to Avalon to get into some barefoot bowling of the outdoor variety. After building up a bit of an appetite on the bowling green we are going to spark up the BBQ and cook up a feast. There's no need to bring any BBQ food (unless you have any special requests), just bring yourself and your bowling feet.

Thursday January 20 Beach Volleyball @ Manly
Tonight the club members will be heading down to Manly Beach to play some volleyball by twilight. There will be an opportunity for a cool down swim for those who would like. Don’t feel like playing volleyball? Still come along and enjoy a casual stroll up and down the beachfront, or cheer on your friends at the sideline!

Saturday January 22 Sailability
Ahoy there sailors... If you are keen to get those sea legs into action then today's activity is the one for you. Today we will be putting our sea legs to the test as we sail around the beautiful waters of Sydney. These boats cater to people of all abilities so don’t be shy! If sailing is not your thing then don't worry, there will be a group of land-lovers at all times holding down the fort and having some fun on the shore with soccer balls, a frisbee and a walk or two.

Sunday January 30 Chinese New Year Markets
It's time again for Chinese New Year celebrations, marking the beginning of the year of the Wombat. This year we'll be heading down to Belmore Park where we will experience the colours, flavours and excitement of an authentic Asian Market. With delicious food, arts and crafts and a stage with singing, movie screenings and dancing, the difficult part will be trying to see it all!
