Volunteering on our Programs
Opportunities exist for volunteers on a number of our programs including:
Host Program
Host Volunteers come from all walks of life and can be singles, couples or families.
As a Host Volunteer you will be given the opportunity to care for a child with a mild disability on a regular basis, usually 1-2 days each month, to give the child’s family a break.
You can choose to do this in your own home, have a fun day out in the community or visit the child in his or her own home. You can do this by yourself or include your own family in this special day. The rewards can be amazing!
As a Host you would be required to set aside at least one day each month to care for your host child. You would need to be flexible about the activities you do on that day and have the ability to respond to the individual needs of the child and his or her family. Your host child’s safety and wellbeing must be your priority.
The Saturday Program
The Saturday Program runs every Saturday from 10am-4pm and offers a range of group activities for children with disabilities aged 5-16 years. Volunteers on this program are needed to support the children in participating and enjoying these activities.
From baking, singing or reading a story to ice-skating and surfing – we do it all! Join our team and be part of the fun.
As a Saturday Program volunteer you would need to be able to contribute one Saturday a month, work in a team and actively participate in the activities.
Peer Support Program
The Peer Support Program provides group-based recreational activities on Thursday evenings and weekends for young adults with disabilities aged 18-24 years.
A Peer volunteer would need to be available for at least one activity a month, be willing to participate in activities and be able to work in a team. If you interested in more info about the current recruitment campaign go to Peer Volunteer Recruitment
